Disclaimer: The following guide is posted on behalf of the Moderator Alliance and aims to educate users on the various auction styles available to them for use as well as the various responsibilities associated with those choices. Rules of execution and consequences of incorrect execution of these guidelines are mentioned in the Auction Rules Thread.

This guide tries to help you with the question: "I want to post an auction, what options do I have?"

Please go through the questionnaire from question 1 and follow the instructions. The possible options can be found below the questionnaire.

Note- For multiple auctions running simultaneously:
The questionnaire can be repeated for as many separate threads/auctions that you want to post.
Responsibilities:
- Each thread/auction is independent and should be maintained
Possible probems:
- The more auction threads you have running simultaneously, the more likely you might do a mistake and the more time you have to spend on maintaining all auction threads.
- When running multiple auctions simultaneously, you should be careful to ensure that the end times do not clash and that sufficient time is kept between end times to include delays due to extensions.

1. How many items do you want to auction?
A: Just one item or one package -> Option A
B: Many items separately and independently -> Question 2

2. Do you want to set just one common end time for all items or do you want to set different end times for each item?
A: Just one common end time -> Question 3
B: Many different end times -> Question 4

3. Do you want to use just one common point system for all items or do you want to use different point systems for each item?
A: Just one common point system -> Option B
B: Many different point systems -> Option C

4. Do you want to use just one common point system for all items or do you want to use different point systems for each item?
A: Just one common point system -> Option D
B: Many different point systems -> Option E

Your results/options:

A. One item/package, one time frame, one point system
Responsibilities:
- Only one item or a package of items is auctioned
- There is only one end time
- Extension time can be applied or not
- There is only one point system and a skill-set reference
- There can be a minimum bid and/or a buyout

B. Many items/packages, one time frame, one point system
Responsibilities:
- Many items are auctioned separately and independently
- Multiple items in one auction/thread must be clearly distinguished from each other
- There is only one common end time
- Extension time can be applied to all or none items
- There is only one common point system and an optional skill-set reference
- There can be a minimum bid and/or a buyout for each item independently
Possible problems:
- It might be hard to oversee many items in one auction and confirm bids for the correct items
- Extension time might cause confusion on which item is extended and which is not
- Applying different minimum bids and buyouts for different items may cause confusion

C. Many items/packages, many time frames, one point system
Responsibilities:
- Many items are auctioned separately and independently
- Multiple items in one auction/thread must be clearly distinguished from each other
- Each item can have a different end time
- Extension time can be applied to none, some or all items
- There is only one common point system and an optional skill-set reference
- There can be a minimum bid and/or a buyout for each item independently
Possible problems:
- It might be hard to oversee many items in one auction and confirm bids for the correct items
- Different end times for different items may lead to confusion to when the end times is for which item
- Extension time might cause confusion on which item is extended and which is not
- Applying different minimum bids and buyouts for different items may cause confusion

D. Many items/packages, one time frame, many point systems
Responsibilities:
- Many items are auctioned separately and independently
- Multiple items in one auction/thread must be clearly distinguished from each other
- There is only one common end time
- Extension time can be applied to all or none items
- Each item can have a different point system and an optional skill-set reference
- There can be a minimum bid and/or a buyout for each item independently
Possible problems:
- It might be hard to oversee many items in one auction and confirm bids for the correct items
- Ext time might cause confusion on which item is extended and which is not
- Different point systems for different items can lead to confusion to what can be bid on which item
- Applying different minimum bids and buyouts for different items may cause confusion

E. Many items/packages, many time frames, many point systems
Responsibilities:
- Many items are auctioned separately and independently
- Multiple items in one auction/thread must be clearly distinguished from each other
- Each item can have a different end time
- Extension time can be applied to none, some or all items
- Each item can have a different point system and an optional skill-set reference
- There can be a minimum bid and/or a buyout for each item independently
Possible problems:
- It might be hard to oversee many items in one auction and confirm bids for the correct items
- Different end times for different items may lead to confusion to when the end times is for which item
- Extension time might cause confusion on which item is extended and which is not
- Different point systems for different items can lead to confusion to what can be bid on which item
- Applying different minimum bids and buyouts for different items may cause confusion
